උතුරු පළාතේ යාපනය දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ සියලුම අවතැන් කඳවුරු අගෝස්තු 15ට පෙර වසා දැමීමට රජය තීරණය කර තිබේ. යාපනයේ මේ වන විට අවතැන් කඳවුරු 31ක් තුළ පවුල් 971ක් ජීවත්වෙන බවත් ඒ සියලු පවුල් නැවත පදිංචි කිරීමට හැකි වේ යැයි රජයේ විශ්වාසය බව හින්දු පුවත් සේවය වාර්තා කරයි.
මේ පිළිබඳව නිල ලියවිලි තමන්ට ලැබී තිබෙන බව පවසන හින්දු පුවත් සේවය පවසන්නේ පලාලි හා කන්කන්තුරේ ප්‍ර දේශයේ ඒ සඳහා අවශ්‍ය නිවාස 204ක් යුද හමුදාවේ සහාය ඇතිව ඉදිකර ඇති බවයි.
මේ පිළිබඳව හින්දු පුවත් සේවය නැවත පදිංචි කිරීමේ අමාත්‍ය ඩී.එම්. ස්වාමිනාදන් මහතාගෙන් විමසා ඇති විට ඔහු පවසා තිබෙන්නේ නැවත පසිංචිකිරීම් සිදුකර අවසන් කරන කාලසීමාවක් පිළිබඳව සඳහන් කළ නොහමැකි බවයි.
D.M. Swaminathan, Resettlement Minister, asserts that there is no such timeframe to close down the camps. But, he says that we are doing all what we can.
Follows Sirisenas direction
The governments movefollows a direction given by President Maithripala Sirisena while chairing a high-level meeting last monthon the resettlement ofIDPs. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake were among those who attended the meeting. In December last, when the President visited an IDP campin Konapulam, near Kankesanthurai, he assured people that he would address their problems in six months.
On Wednesday, the Cabinet of theSri Lankagovernment gave an approval for LKR 971 million to build houses at a unit cost of Rs. one million.
Manner of dealing with issue blamed
Finding fault with the manner in which the government is seeking to solve problems of the IDPs, Arunachalam Kunabalasingham, president of the Vali North Rehabilitation and Resettlement Committee, a body representing IDPs, says a large number of the IDPs is from places such as Myladdy and there is a 12-km-long coastline still under the control of the security forces. Without returning the Myladdy fishing harbour and providing free access to the coastline, the government will not be able to achieve much. Excluding the landless 641 families, the remaining families were once landowners, who should be given back their original lands, says Mr. Kunabalasingham.
C.V. Wigneswaran, Chief Minister of theNorthern Province, addressing the Provincial Council on Thursday, blamed the Centre for not taking into confidence the provincial administration on matters concerning resettlement.
