Senior UPF politician joins DPF

 

 

Senior vice president of the Upcountry People's Front V. Bharathidasan has joined ranks with the Democratic People’s Front, claimed DPF leader Mano Ganeshan.

Mr. Ganeshan told 'Colombo Today' that Mr. Bharathidasan, together with 2,000 of his supporters, joined his party in Hatton yesterday (Feb. 07).

With the death of UPF leader Periyasamy Chandrasekaran, the party has become divided, the head of the DPF claimed.

Mr. Bharathidasan had decided to leave the party since Mr. Chandrasekaran's wife Shanthi cannot given it a proper leadership, said Mr. Ganeshan.

Commenting on this exodus of its membership, UPF secretary S. Vijayakumar has said that they would not be affected much, since the party was drawing new supporters.
