Stumble Upon208 police officers transferred
EnlargeFeb 8, 2010 1:53 PM · Police chief Mahinda Balasuriya has transferred 208 officers in his department with effect from February 06, said the Police Headquarters.
The transfers have been made with approval by the defence secretary as per service requirements, said new police spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody.
Among the transferred officers are l99 senior DIGs, DIGs, SSPs, SPs as well as 109 chief inspectors and sub inspectors.
There are also 61 OICs of police stations who have been given transfers, said the Police spokesman.
Previous transfers of 32 chief inspectors, inspectors and sub inspectors have been cancelled since yesterday.
Meanwhile, SSPs Daya Samaraweera and Gamini Amarakoon have been promoted DIGs.
DIG Samaraweera will be in charge of northwestern province (western range) while Mr. Amarakoon has been given the Jaffna area.
The two are due to assume duties in their new capacities tomorrow.
